NEW YEAR CUSTOMS

IN ARGENTINA, we celebrate the New Year in summer. On 31st December we have dinner with our family. We eat turkey and dulce de leche – our special food. People often wear pink that evening. At midnight we watch fireworks. Then young people go to parties and dance. The next day, on January 1st, we go swimming.

IN THAILAND, we celebrate the New Year with our families. At twelve o’clock, we watch fireworks. The next morning our parents and grandparents give us new money. We also celebrate the Asian New Year on April 19th. On this day people play with water.

IN MEXICO, we celebrate the New Year with our families and friends. We watch TV and at midnight we eat twelve grapes. Then we say, “Happy New Year!” People wear red if they want to find love in the New Year, and they walk in the street with a suitcase if they want to travel.
