In the 19th century Kiburu foretold that a fig tree near Nairobi would wither and die when Kenya became independent. As other prophecies by Kiburu had been quite accurate, the tree was considered sacred [=as a sacred one.]. Though the white men built up a wall around the tree to prevent it from falling, that was of no use. The prophecy was true for the tree was struck by lightning before independence and decayed rapidly. (75 words)

According to a prophecy made by Kiburu in the 19th century, a fig tree near Nairobi would wither and die on the day that Kenya became independent. Other prophecies had been accurate so the tree was considered sacred. White men built up a wall around the tree to prevent it from falling, but the prophecy became true. After having been hit by lightning before independence, the tree decayed rapidly. (69 words)
