401.1 A boy who played truant travelled 1,600 miles. He hitch-hiked to Dover, where he slept in a boat only to find himself in Calais in the morning. A lorry driver gave him a lift and something to eat. The boy got off near Paris, stopped another car, but instead of being taken to the city centre, he was taken to Perpignan. After being picked up by a policeman, he was sent home by the local authorities.

401.2 A boy played truant and travelled 1,600 miles. After he had hitch-hiked to Dover, he slept in a boat. In the morning he found himself in Calais, where a lorry driver gave him a lift and something to eat. On getting off near Paris, he stopped another car, which took him not to Paris, but to Perpignan. There he was picked up by a policeman and sent home by the local authorities.
